The Arc has proudly served adults with disabilities in our community since 1976.

The Arc of Greater Williamsburg is part of The Arc of the United States, which was founded by parents in 1950. These parents refused to believe that the only option for their children was to be placed in an institution, separated from their communities.  Instead, the Arc was created to help individuals with intellectual disabilities lead full and satisfying lives in their communities.

The Arc of Greater Williamsburg was founded in July of 1976 by local parents of children with developmental disabilities.  It is one of 630 Arc chapters across the United States.
